Abstract:
Advanced Laser Innovations – From Micro-Diodes to Macro-Applications
This session, hosted by the Laserverbund, highlights the diverse impact of laser technology across industry, transit, and science.
Lasers have become the "Swiss-Army-Knife" of technology. They are spanning everyday applications, environmental technologies, high-precision measurements and reach out far into the future promising unprecedented power densities.
This session bridges fundamental semiconductor research with heavy-industry manufacturing and space exploration, demonstrating the cross-industry power of modern photonics. It tries to open a window into the possible future of laser applications not yet standard.
Agenda:
10:00-10:25 "Power Scaling Diode Lasers for Economic Laser Fusion: the promise of Multi-Junction Technology", Eldad Bahat Treidel (FBH)
10:25-10:50 "Handheld laser welding – The Easy Way to Laser Welding?", Matthias Busch (Bluelasertools)
10:50-11:15 "Hightech Railcar Manufacturing - advanced photonic lightweight XXL weld assemblies for passenger trains", Holger Alder (Photon-AG)
11:15-11:40 "Microresonators for laser frequency combs in astrophotonics", Kalaga Madhav (AIP Potsdam)
11:40-12:05 "Quantifying the Invisible: Gas Remote Sensing with CHARM and Raman Lidar", Sebastian Friede (Adlares)
